Purpose Of Starting a Trust Fund
The Ohio Sports Turf Managers Associations purpose for starting a trust is to ensure the future of the organization. The organization is going to be only ten years old in 2008 with shallow roots in the State of Ohio. The organization has had a tough road to achieve growth and financial stability. Over the last several years the organization has increased award dollars. Even with that there have been discussions for the need for more funds for research and other awards to help our sports turf managers in the state. In the short term the board is looking into ways to fulfill these needs and help our turf managers. In the long term a better system must be found.
Mission
The trust fund is being created to fund sports turf research, scholarships, and other awards to help sports turf managers throughout the whole State of Ohio. The funds generated for these objectives have been in most years, but there is no guarantee for year to year. The goal set forward by the board is to reach $100,000 with the principle never to be touched. The interest generated will be able to support these objectives and help OSTMA secure a long term future in Ohio.
Future Goals
The future goals for the trust fund include:
- A method for membership to become charitable donors to the trust fund.
- Reach our principle amount of $100,000.
- Be able to help support sports turf research, scholarships, and other awards to help sports turf managers in our state.
